After 10 Years, Ride-Hailing App Careem Exits Pakistan Market

ISLAMABAD, June 18 (Talk of Trend) – Careem, the Middle East-based ride-hailing subsidiary of Uber, will suspend its core ride-hailing operations in Pakistan starting July 18, citing mounting economic pressures, intensifying competition, and limited capital availability. The decision marks the end of nearly a decade-long presence in a country where it played a pioneering role in introducing app-based transportation.

This development highlights the growing strain on Pakistan’s digital economy, as tech companies face headwinds from surging inflation, declining consumer spending, and constrained global investment. Launched in 2015, Careem had grown to become a leading force in Pakistan’s mobility sector.
